In the beginning, when Eric and I first got into business, we tried other business development companies with similar services. Most of the “other guys” were these large companies where there were many people working our account without great success. It was the equivalent of having a personal assistant. I was able to inform Vicki, the individual I was working with, about our company, our strengths, our business model, what we actually did, as well as a host of other details she needed to make the call meaningful to the potential client. Vicki, also informed me of appointments in real time, even calling me directly, if needed, to work out meeting schedules to fit both the potential client and myself. Then the results started coming in. In fact, we are still doing business with several of the original companies that ABC set appointments with so many years ago! The Team at ABC has been instrumental to the growth of On Target Maintenance throughout the years.
When we first started our business 25 years ago, our budget was not large, in fact we had virtually no budget for calls. However, we knew it was a necessity. We started with just 10 hours a week. Maureen and her Team made sure those hours were spent wisely: if something wasn’t going as well as ABC thought it should, perhaps the list we supplied didn’t have accurate numbers or a host of other reasons, the team at ABC didn’t just keep calling. They directed us to better lists and other options and in many cases that was what was needed.
ABC makes the appointments, but then it is up to us, the sales team, to make the sale. We have been very fortunate in our business to have the combination that works.
